Psalm 102

Psalm 102

Hear now my prayer, O Lord
Bring near my cry to You
Turn not Your face away from me
And answer when I call

My days dissolve like smoke
My heart is struck to earth
A lonely sparrow on the roof,
My name becomes a curse

The ashes are my bread
My bitter tears my drink
An evening shadow are my days
And long I lie awake

But You, O Lord, are high
Enthroned above the earth
Remembered through the halls of time
The changeless and divine

You will arise again
To pity Zion’s stones
Held dear by all who mourn for her
And long for Your return

Great kings will fear Your Name
And nations bow before
The One who hears the destitute
And treasures all their cries

Let this be written down
For ages yet to come:
An unborn people who will praise
The One who sets them free

My strength is broken through
His calling on my life:
“O Father, take me not away,
You who endure all time!”

Of old You laid the sure
Foundation-stone of Earth;
The heavens are your handiwork
And by Your Word are held

As garments they will wear
And perish in that Day
Changed as a robe, though You remain
When all things pass away

You are the same, O God
Your years will have no end
Your children dwell secure in You
Till glory shall descend.

My name is Jeremy Vogan. I live in Staunton, VA with my wife and four kids. I love to write, and seek to honestly explore the intellectual and emotional implications of following Jesus as a deeply broken person in a twisted, cruel world that is full of veiled beauty and meaning. Writing is part of how I faithfully look for Jesus Christ to someday make all things new. I'd enjoy hearing your feedback! JV
