Hebrews 9:13

Hebrews 9:13

Hebrews 9:13  “For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh”

Lord, who can pay for sin?

We do wrong every day

We take that which is not ours

We speak words which are not true

We speak against our brother and judge him

We speak against the holy Law, and judge it

We desire and do not have, so we murder

We covet and cannot obtain, so we fight and quarrel

We do not have, because we do not ask

We ask and do not receive, because we ask wrongly, to spend it on our passions

O adulterous people! For surely we do know that friendship with the world is enmity with God

It is not to no purpose that the Scriptures say, “He yearns jealously over the spirit He has made to dwell within us”

But You, O Lord, give more grace

You oppose the proud but give grace to the humble

Let us submit ourselves therefore to God

Resist the devil, and he will flee from us; draw near to God, and He will draw near to us

Cleanse our sinful hands, and purify our double-minded hearts

Be wretched and mourn and weep; humble ourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt us

For who can forgive sins except God alone? Except You, Lord Jesus

Amen

My name is Jeremy Vogan. I live in Staunton, VA with my wife and four kids. I love to write, and seek to honestly explore the intellectual and emotional implications of following Jesus as a deeply broken person in a twisted, cruel world that is full of veiled beauty and meaning. Writing is part of how I faithfully look for Jesus Christ to someday make all things new. I'd enjoy hearing your feedback! JV
