Hebrews 1:3a “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.”
How many times have I asked to see Your glory
I have lost count, and the way still stretches long before me, and I have not seen it
Yet I will keep asking
For if You truly are, it would be worth a lifetime of waiting, to see You face to face
You who hung the stars, who brooded over the chaos, who knelt down to fashion life in Your image, after Your likeness
You who formed us faultless and commanded our obedience, as the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy
You who grieved over our sin and set a flaming sword between us and eternal life without You
You who took eternal counsel to take on flesh and walk among us, to know our sorrows, to work against evil with every word and touch, to be our Brother and great High Priest, yet without sin
You who humbled Yourself and were obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross
You who rose triumphant, and led captives in Your train
You whose Spirit gently teaches my captive heart now, and reminds me of Your words of wisdom: That I have indeed seen You, and that whoever has seen You has seen the Father
Help me, Lord Jesus, to treasure Your Word, and to be one who has not seen the fullness of Your glory, and yet has believed
Help me to know that in You there is a power greater than anything in this world
That everything Your Spirit says is life, and wisdom, and peace, and hope
That every trial You bring me to must be for Your glory and my good
That You uphold all things by the Word of your power And You will surely bring me safely into glory. Amen
