Hebrews 1:3a-4

Hebrews 1:3a-4

Hebrews 1:3a-4  “After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”

Lord, I do not understand

You were already higher than the angels; why was it required that You attain to that again?

But the eternal wisdom of God knew that was needful

Mercy had to triumph over judgment

A Name had to be above all names

Evil had to be conquered

The Law had to be kept

Your promises had to be upheld

The word of the prophets had to be fulfilled

An innocent Lamb had to be found

The enemy forces had to be defeated

A death had to be died to sin, once for all

Your chosen people had to be made holy by Your obedience

The head of the serpent had to be crushed

That salvation into which angels long to look had to be accomplished

Your obedience to the Cross had to be finished

Faith had to be proved by its reverence

Hope had to be demonstrated by its appearance

But the greatest of these, Lord, was Love

We will spend all of eternity praising You for Your works, Lord Jesus Amen

My name is Jeremy Vogan. I live in Staunton, VA with my wife and four kids. I love to write, and seek to honestly explore the intellectual and emotional implications of following Jesus as a deeply broken person in a twisted, cruel world that is full of veiled beauty and meaning. Writing is part of how I faithfully look for Jesus Christ to someday make all things new. I'd enjoy hearing your feedback! JV
